# Date picker

Customers choose their rental dates in the **Rental date picker**, an app block for your product page. It needs an Online Store 2.0 theme, such as Dawn or Horizon. There is no app embed to turn on.

## Add the block

1. In DueBack, open the setup guide or the checklist on **Home** and click **Open theme editor**. The block is already added to your product template.
2. Move it above the add to cart button if needed.
3. Click **Save** in the theme editor.

To add it yourself, open **Online Store → Themes → Customize**, go to your product template, click **Add block**, and choose **Rental date picker** under Apps.

## What customers see

- A month calendar with **Previous month** and **Next month** buttons.
- Days that are fully booked, or inside your buffer days, are crossed out. Days before your minimum notice or after **Book up to** can't be picked.
- The customer picks the day they want it to arrive. The end day follows from the variant's rental length, shown as *14 Nov – 16 Nov, return by 16 Nov*.
- The refundable deposit, when the product has one.
- A checkbox to accept your rental terms, linked to your rental agreement.

When a variant isn't rentable, or DueBack can't be reached, the picker hides and leaves your theme's product form alone.

## Adding to cart

When the customer clicks add to cart, DueBack holds those dates for **30 minutes** so nobody else can take them while they check out. The cart gets two lines:

- The rental, with a **Rental dates** property.
- The **Refundable deposit**, with the same quantity and a **For:** property naming the product.

If someone took the dates a moment earlier, the customer sees *Those dates were just taken. Please pick other dates.* and the calendar reloads.

## Rental cart summary

Add the **Rental cart summary** block to your cart template to list each rental's dates and how long they are still held, for example *held for 24 more min*. After 30 minutes it says the hold expired and the dates are checked again at checkout.

## Buy it now

**Buy it now** and other express checkout buttons skip the date picker. Checkout then stops the order and asks the customer to choose rental dates on the product page. Consider hiding the dynamic checkout buttons on rental products in your theme settings.
