# Limitations

What DueBack doesn't do yet, or does differently than you might expect. Read this before you launch rentals.

## Days, not hours

Rentals are booked by whole days in your store's time zone. Hourly or half-day rentals aren't supported.

## Online Store 2.0 themes

The date picker is an app block, so it needs an Online Store 2.0 theme. It is tested on Dawn and Horizon. Vintage themes without app blocks can't show it.

## Buy it now skips the picker

**Buy it now** and other express checkout buttons don't go through the date picker. Checkout then stops the order and asks the customer to choose dates on the product page. Hide dynamic checkout buttons on rental products if your theme allows it.

## Orders outside the online checkout

POS orders, draft orders and order edits skip the checkout check. They are still booked; if their dates are full, the booking is marked as a [conflict](https://dueback.misoapps.com/docs/bookings#conflicts) for you to reschedule or cancel.

## How far ahead checkout checks

The checkout check reads a copy of each product's fully booked days. It covers about the next 180 days, and can take up to an hour to catch up if a refresh is missed. Dates held in other carts are protected by the 30-minute hold rather than by this copy.

## Deposits are paid, not held

The deposit is a paid line on the order, refunded after the return. DueBack doesn't place a hold on the customer's card: Shopify can only keep an authorization for about 7 days (30 on Shopify Plus), which is too short for most rentals.

## Manual payments

Deposits paid by cash, bank transfer, cash on delivery or a split payment can't be refunded automatically. Refund them yourself, then click **Mark settled**. See [Returns and deposits](https://dueback.misoapps.com/docs/returns#refunds-dueback-cant-make).

## Early and late returns

- An early return doesn't free the remaining days of the booking.
- A late return doesn't extend the booking, so the calendar may show a copy as free while the item is still out. Check **Overdue** on Home before the next rental starts.

## One currency

Deposits, fees, refunds and invoices use the currency of the order. Shops selling in several currencies should set deposits and fees with that in mind.

## Cancel and reschedule don't move money

Cancelling or rescheduling a booking in DueBack only changes the dates. Refund or charge the customer in Shopify.

## Order status block on Shopify Starter

The **Rental details** block on the thank-you and order status pages isn't available on stores on Shopify's Starter plan. The dates are still on the order's line items and in the order confirmation email.
